Introduction

Hi all
My name is Cindy and I live in Suffolk Virginia. My blog-name is Loomgirl and I'm new to blogging! We'll see if this works!!
I love almost anything dealing with fibers and beads - and am so excited to be participating in the bead journal project. I'm planning to do a 4 by 6 inch format using tapestry weaving, bead weaving, quilting - and I have to do some bead embroidery. I'm not sure about the finishing of the project, I haven't decided about making a book or a quilt, I'm still pondering....

I've been warming up for the bjp the past few weeks by making beaded buttons - using the directions in the lovely Beaded Embellishment Book by Amy Clarke and Robin Atkins. I've just fallen in love with bead embroidery and if I don't have a button going at all times - I get cranky. I'm going to have to make some clothes now to go with all the buttons.

I'm so thrilled to be participating in this year's bjp - just doing my warm-up buttons has made me look at design and color and shape and see what works, and what doesn't. I'm starting to plan September's page and may not be able to wait until September to start it!

Bead with joy!

Welcome, Cindy -- the BJP is a wonderful experience for old and new beaders alike. Your buttons sound great!

hi cindy...hey, last year we had a beader who did a button per month as her "page"....and they are fantastic! Do you have a blog or flickr account? I'd love to see your buttons.

Hi Kathy, Thank you! I can't wait to get started on the project and it has already made me start thinking and trying new things. I'm just so excited about this.

Hi Beadbabe - I don't have a flickr account but I'd like to share my buttons. I'll work on it. I could put it on the copperloom.com site blog but it may take me a few days to get it done. I've been to your flickr account and just love seeing your work and workspace and kitties - I have 2. Thank you for sharing your talent, work and ideas in such a beautiful manner.

Welcome, Cindy! How clever to do "warm up" buttons! Have you posted pictures yet? Aren't they just the best way to get started with bead embroidery. Over the years, I've had 1000's of students take my Beaded Buttons class... it's such a great way to see if you enjoy this type of work. Glad to hear you're one who does... also glad to hear the book worked for you! Thanks! Robin A.

Hi Robin
I've had the best time with the buttons and I've enjoyed your books so much - you're a wonderful teacher. I am also enjoying the interleaving paper - I really like the feel and the stability while working. I'm hooked!
I didn't know about putting my warm-up button pictures up yet? I know we aren't supposed to post our page pictures for the first few months. I'd be happy to put the buttons up, just didn't know if I should????

Lovely start, my Cindy. I've seen the mentioned buttons and they are as gorgeous and wonderful as Cindy's work always is. I'm going to go introduce myself, too. This blogging stuff is nerve wracking.
